INTERNATIONAL 6th BİLHİKEM SOCIAL SCIENCE STUDENT SYMPOSIUM
October 19-20, 2023 / VAN
Dear Young Scientists,
A human being by nature first sees the light of day in a place, discovers nature, tries to understand their own existence and the others, and ultimately seeks for transcendental being. Due to the concern of self-preservation and livelihood people who prefer to live with others establish broad-range settlements of different scales from hamlet to metropolis. On the other hand, people who have problems with belonging and identity express themselves with cultures and civilizations which are shaped by their feelings, thoughts, and beliefs. The issue of civilization and city become one of the main problemsof humans whose relations with the world are changeable between reconstruction and destruction. These two issues are on the agenda of almost everyone who considers comprehending the past and building the future.
Bilhikem, which brings young researchers together and provides the opportunity to present their scientific efforts, accomplished the fifth student symposium. The valuable presentations were retained with publishing into a book. Our social sciences-oriented symposiums will be held in a thematic form from this year on. The main theme of the 6th Bilhikem Student Symposium is “Civilization and the City”. We think that those who set out to seek the good, the beautiful, and the truth, but return to humanity with an offer, will have a lot to say about the city and civilization. We invite undergraduate and graduate students who are on the path of science and wisdom to share their research from different disciplines in the context of these two themes.
